Social Media

Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, LinkedIn, to name only the best known. Obscure magic words for many, while others can’t have a cup of coffee without checking all their social accounts. The use of social sites is a matter of individual taste. Everyone can share as much of their life as they like, with whoever they like.

However, for an enterprise, whether they are on Facebook or not can be a business decision.

For starters, let us dispel a few myths related to social media:

1. Facebook is the best advertisement because it is seen by a huge number of people and it doesn’t cost anything.

a.   It’s not true that it doesn’t cost anything. Keeping things working may take up to 1 hour from a person’s working time. If this person is a member of the company staff, they are paid for this hour just as if they were doing their regular tasks. If the company is present on several social sites, this number can multiply.
b.   It’s not true that it is seen by a huge number of people. Just because a company has a site on Facebook or other social media, it doesn’t mean that it’s popular, too.

2. Today, all worthwhile companies must have a Facebook site, this is practically obligatory.

a.    This is not true in this form. Basically, Facebook and others of its kind are used by private individuals to communicate with each other. Therefore, the rule of thumb is that the companies present on Facebook should be ones that would like to reach out to private individuals to tell them something.
